1991 BMW 318i 4-door e30, ~180k miles on body, slick top (no sunroof), Alpine white

***M52B28 24v engine swap with ~200k miles.
>OBDI conversion
>5-speed transmission (ZF)
>3.25LSD differential
>Bilstein Sport shocks
>H&R springs
*Otherwise completely stock

>Odometer works/accurate
>Proper 6 cylinder coding plug so gauges show accurate readings (rpm/speed/temp/etc)
>Everything else works except passenger rear window

Swap was done by a BMW tech, everything mechanical works great like it should, drives really nice. Minimal rust.

The Bad:
*Exterior/paint is a bit rough so will need some TLC, but it's not bad for a 22 year old daily driver
*Gauge cluster light is out

This is a great base to turn into an awesome project/daily, and it already has the swap done.

8/10. Would buy, buff the shizzawocky out of the paint, and go through the fuse box in the hopes of the cluster lights being a bad fuse. If not, there's always external lighting solutions i.e. LED pen lights.

I would be careful just because of the guage cluster lights. Especially for something that seems a bit overpriced. I would just hate to have to chase electrical gremlins knowing I could have had a fully operational e21 or e36 for potentially less.

e30 market is all over the place these days. It really comes down to how well you feel the previous owner maintained the vehicle. I've seen clean, relatively stock 325i's go for north of $7k, and I've seen questionable swapped cars for for as low as $3k.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, when buying a car it is just as important to evaluate the owner as it is the car.

NP. It's a pre-swapped (assuming it was done correctly of course) late model that's relatively clean. We all know e30's are increasing in value these days. The gauge cluster issue could be fleshed out so long as you're not lazy. The m50b28 can make decent power for what it is, with a tune, s50 cams, and some other items. That's the route I'm thinking!
